The Trademarks Amendment Bill, 2009 has been passed by The Lok Sabha on 18th of December, 2009. The bill seeks to amend The Trademarks Act,1999 by introducing provisions such as Introduction of International Registrations through International Bureau of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), extending time for opposing the mark to four months and inserting provisions as to the assignment of the Trade Mark.


This roundtable organized by Cyberspace & Intellectual Property Foundation (CIPFO) and Asian Patent Attorney’s Association (APAA), Indian Chapter aims to debate about the new provisions as are introduced in the bill and seek to open a dialogue to suggest amendments in the proposed Act by raising the issues with the government before the bill is introduced and debated in Rajya Sabha.
