Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management- Kerala (IIITM-K) was established in 2000 by Government of Kerala as an autonomous educational institution in Science, Technology and Management. Ojectives of the Programme
1. Generating human resources with the right skills, knowledge, aptitude and leadership qualities for
effective implementation of e-Governance projects.
2. Conceptualisation of ideas and development of service delivery models for improving the quality of
service to citizen.
3. To broaden the scope of e-Governance in the state through various sectors and services.
4. To enhance the effectiveness of programmes by integrating state-of-the-art technologies and management.
The classroom sessions have been divided into Core courses and Elective courses and they are grouped under three major categories viz. E-Governance, Management and Information Technology. As part of the course, the candidates are required to undertake a project work in the final semester. The programme also includes lab sessions in IT and soft skills development. Up on successful completion of the course the participants may find career opportunities in Government’s IT and e-Governance projects, Software Industry, Consulting Companies, National and State ICT organisations.
Master of Philosophy in Ecological Informatics (M. Phil-EI)
Ecological Informatics (E.I) is a trans-disciplinary subject, which integrates ecology, informatics, computational and social sciences in order to improve our understanding of ecological processes and expand socio-ecological theory to integrate the earth’s natural systems, human values, human health and well being. This program emphasizes using Information technology to address ecological issues. It prepares students for a meaningful research career in ecological/ environmental science.
The multi-dimensional approach of IT enabling ecological study/ research as envisioned at the school of ecological informatics, IIITM-K is perhaps globally peerless.
