  • Illiterates – 30 percent, school dropouts – 43 percent, class 12 pass – 9 percent
  • Within services sector – 80 percent of workforce employed in traditional trade, construction
  • Shortage and surplus of labour coexist in india
  • Poor employability of graduates – inadequate development of basic skills, lack of vocational training
  • Key challenge for india: enabling people to join the new workforce
